While a pool can be enjoyable for growing families, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry estimates that only homeowners only recover 39 cents for every dollar spent on purchasing and up-keeping a pool.

There are other ways to add “pool” to give value to your home and that is with a billiard table, pool table, and/or snooker table.

While the recreational player may not know the difference between a billiard table, pool table, and/or snooker table, The Billiard Collection — South Florida’s certified recreational equipment dealer — is here to help out.

Billiards, pool, and snooker are different games each played on a different type of table.

While pool and snooker tables traditionally use felt for its table’s surface, a billiard table’s surface is covered in worsted wool, is only around 112 inches by 56 inches and has no pockets.

It may sound weird but the objection of billiards is to strike the object ball with your cue ball and hit the rails exactly three times to connect with the second ball. Thus, there are no need for pockets.

The most recognizable game of pool is played on a table with six pockets; two in the middle on each side.

Pool tables come in different sizes of nine feet, eight feet, and seven feet in length and can come in different heights and colors. The Billiard Collection’s online store has over 50 tables to choose from and also handles an extensive collection of lamps, bar stools, game tables, game room art and game room accessories.

Snooker tables are larger than pool or billiard tables but the pockets are smaller. Snooker is a cue game with a higher number of smaller balls. Traditionally, a snooker table is 12×6 feet.

Snooker’s 21 balls are hit with cues that are created to gain more speed — a 2/3 butt-end to ferrule length ratio.

As The Billiard Collection approaches 53 years in business, you will find the largest selection in South Florida. There are over 40 antique tables in stock from the mid 1800’s thru the early part of the 20th century.
